Los Angeles VegWeek Starts July 11: Fed. & State Reps Pledge to Go Veg!
In April, we told you about our Maryland VegWeek campaign that gained the support of seven legislators—federal, state, and local—who participated by going vegetarian for at least one week. This week-long celebration highlighting the many benefits of leaving animals off our plates was such a success that we're now bringing it to the West Coast!
The first-ever Los Angeles VegWeek kicks off this Sun., July 11, at a food-filled party in Torrance. Please join us—and special guests Assemblymembers Pedro Nava and Ted Lieu, who have both signed our pledge to go vegetarian for the week, along with celebrity chef Chloe Coscarelli whose vegan cupcakes recently won first prize in the Food Network's Cupcake Wars. Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA) is also lending his support by pledging to go vegetarian for LA VegWeek.

Following the Council's presentation, COK dished out over 100 free meatless meals for D.C. City Council Members, staff, interns, and others in attendance of the event. With support from VegFund.org, the all-vegan meal included fettuccine alfredo with "chicken" and Caesar salad.
