2010: Restaurant Outreach Grows

Vegan Day at Bread & Brew

COK's Restaurant Outreach Campaign, launched in the nation's capital in 2003, has worked hand in hand with dozens of restaurants to create or expand upon their meat-free menus as a way to help make vegetarian eating as easy and as accessible as possible. Dunkin' Vote: 12 Vegan Donut Finalists!

Pick a donut, any donut

In March, we asked you to participate in Dunkin' Donuts 2nd annual "Create Dunkin's Next Donut Contest" by sending in your ideas and telling the company its next donut should be vegan. You also shared your ideas with us—from Vegan Velvet Elvis to Vegan Cherry Bomb to Bavarian BeVegan and so many more—that we teamed up with the award-winning Vegan Treats Bakery to make one dream donut come true! Our panel of judges have selected 12 finalists and now it's your turn to vote for your favorite vegan donut, but hurry—polls close on Fri., May 21.

Maryland VegWeek 2010 got underway with a kick-off party on April 24 featuring special guests Congresswoman Donna Edwards, Sen. Jamie Raskin, Del. Tom Hucker, Del. Jim Gilchrist, and Mont. Co. Council Vice-President Valerie Ervin who all signed our pledge to go veg for one week. Another 200 people also signed up to go vegetarian for the week and more than a dozen restaurants participated by offering new meatless options or discounts on their veg-friendly menus.
