COK's Pro-Veg Ad Wins 2009 DoGooderTV Nonprofit Video Award!

In a previous issue of Compassionate Action, we told you that our powerful 30-second commercial, "A Side of Truth" had been selected as a finalist in the 2009 DoGooderTV Nonprofit Video Awards—and we won! Thank you to everyone who voted for us. Earlier this year, during the spring academic semester, we blanketed the MTV airwaves with this ad, and it was viewed millions of times nationwide by a youthful audience.

COK's 2nd Annual 30-Day Egg-Free Pledge Was a Huge Success!
May 2009 marked our second annual Egg-Free Pledge, and hundreds of people nationwide opted out of eating eggs for at least 30 days to celebrate our animal-friendly spin on the industry's self-declared "National Egg Month." We've received phenomenally positive feedback, including this email:
"This pledge opened my eyes to the fact that the animals in the egg and dairy industries suffer even more than the animals that are killed for their meat. Once I made the connection I became a vegan and I have never been more at peace."

"I have a prediction: Sooner than you might think, this will be a vegetarian world. Future generations will find the idea of eating meat both morally absurd and logistically impossible. Of course, one need only look at the booming meat industry, the climbing rates of meat consumption in the developing world, and the menu of just about any restaurant to call me crazy. But already, most people know that eating red meat is bad for their health and harmful for the planet."
