Victory: Lightlife Foods to Using Fewer Eggs & Add Vegan Options!

Victory: Lightlife Foods to Using Fewer Eggs & Add Vegan Options!Shortly after announcing our Morningstar Farms campaign victory last year, COK began corresponding with Lightlife Foods, a leader in the vegetarian food market for 30 years, about the growing demand for egg-free options. The company has been incredibly responsive, and we’re excited to share this statement from Lightlife, “Beginning January 1, 2009 Lightlife is reducing our use of eggs by 166,000 eggs annually!  Additionally, we are excited about introducing three new vegan items to the market place this spring.”

Read more & thank Lightlife for making this compassionate decision.

COK Exposes Cruelties at Foie Gras Factory Farm

COK Exposes Cruelties at Foie Gras Factory Farm

While most factory farms shun visitors, Hudson Valley Foie Gras in New York extends an invitation to the public. So COK’s undercover investigator took advantage of this opportunity—and wore a hidden camera during a scheduled tour. Even though this was a white-gloved, guided tour, the video reveals the sheer barbarity of this industry. What he documented can only be described as a torture chamber for birds as tubes are shoved down their throats and food is pumped into their stomachs.

COK in 2008: A Year in Review Video

COK in 2008: A Year in Review VideoWith your help, in 2008, COK’s staff has worked tirelessly on behalf of farmed animals. We pulled back the curtains on animal agribusiness with undercover footage exposing the hidden horrors forced upon animals in the egg and foie gras industries. Our positive outreach efforts—from our hard-hitting ads on MTV to our 30-day egg-free pledge to our campaign urging Dunkin’ Donuts to serve soy milk—continue to empower others to stand up for animals every time they sit down to eat. Thank you for helping us help animals!
